This week I have a guest post over at 35mmc.com.

The post is a response to comments regarding the Kodak film price increase for 2022. As I wrote previously on 35mmc, I think the film community has a math problem and the vitriol directed toward Kodak might be overblown.

One thing that always comes up in discussions of film price increases is using bulk loaded cine film (E6) rather than trditional (C-41) film.

I tried it. The film was great. The chemicals were expensive and the process was borderline awful. So awful I dumped the chemicals after one batch of film. To see just how expensive and awful, please check out the 35mmc article here. I included a fancy pants spreadsheet so you can do your own calculations to see why bulk loaded cine film is not a panacea for rising film prices.
